Ewan came to the badgers in the summer of 2008 with no formal cricketing under his belt. Despite this, it became obvious in pre-season nets that he had a good eye and anything shot or on the leg side was treated with the contempt it deserved. He finished his first season of competitive cricket with an impressive batting average of 13 from six games with an impressive four not outs.
In the field, Ewan’s enthusiasm and willingness to learn made him a vital member of the seconds as he quickly specialised and made square leg his own by taking several sharp catches at vital times.
The 2009 season holds a lot of promise for Ewan. If he can build on the previous season and with a bit of luck from the cricketing gods he will undoubtedly move up the batting rankings and continue to regale everyone down the pub with his exploits.
